B ible Study We believe the Bible is the Word of God from which all our beliefs and practices find their source. We read, study, discuss and preach from it. It is our final authority. (Matt 15:1-9, John 17:17) E vangelism God has charged the church to go and share the good news of His grace in the Lord Jesus with all people. This includes those who are geographically and/or culturally near and far. God’s desire for all people is that they will experience His grace and follow Him. (Matt 28:18-20, Acts 1:8) R elationships Relationships with God and others are at the heart of the great commandments (love God, love your neighbor). Relationships of love are thus the foundation of all we do. Our meetings, activities and services promote and deepen these relationships. (Micah 6:8, Matt 22:34-40, Luke 10:25-37, Gal. 5:14) E dification God desires that His church be strong and maturing. The church is to conform to the image of its Lord. The church is to be blameless and steadfast until the day the Lord Jesus returns. (Matt. 28:18-20, Eph 2:19-22, Col 1:9-11, I Thess 5:11, I Peter 2:1-5) A doration The church must not have any other gods or idols before it. In response to the grace of the one true God, we render thanks and praise to Him. We also depend on Him and acknowledge He is our source of life. (Exodus 20:1-7, Psalm 150:1-6, Matt 4:10, Heb. 13:15-16, Phil. 4:18) The church acknowledges its total dependency upon God, seeks His gracious mercy, and with thankful hearts, worships Him in prayer. Prayer is made by and on behalf of both individuals and groups of people. We can approach God because of the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. (I Thess. 5:17, I Tim. 2:1-8, Heb. 4:14-16, James 5:13-15) N urturing The church strives to have a family atmosphere as it seeks to protect and facilitate growth for its people (Acts 2:42-46). Each one of us realizes that we have needs to be met and we work together to help meet the needs of others in the church. The exercise of spiritual gifts, sharing of goods, bearing one another’s burdens and requests to the Lord provide the necessary means. (Acts 2:42-46; Rom 12:1-8, 15: 1-2; Gal 6:1-2; I Peter 4:8-11) |
