| What Can I Expect to See at Berean? | |||||||||||||
How do I know where to go? Berean is not a large church, but we know it can be overwhelming to walk into a place and not know where you're going or what to do. We try as much as possible to make you comfortable. We sit on the corner of Coit and Sweet, and have a parking lot on Sweet St. There are two double-wide doors on that side of the parking lot. This is where we recommend you come in, as these doors lead into our foyer. As soon as you walk in, you will see straight ahead an information booth. There are assigned people each week who stand there to welcome any visitor and help you find your way around. They will have available for you a packet of information, as well as a layout map of our church. If you come in time for Sunday School, they will walk with you to your room, as well as connect you with someone in the Sunday School class. What is your morning service like? Our morning service has a mixed feel. We sing both contemporary and traditional songs. There is a praise team that helps lead the worship, as well as people who will sing special music. Berean is very family-oriented, so we frequently have children's groups sing special music. The service starts with a time to prepare for worship, whether through reading a Bible passage or in prayer. Immediately following is the music. Right after the music, we will typically have what we call Berean Family Time. This is where we take time to greet each other, and will mention some of the prayer requests and needs of our members. At this point, children are able to leave for Children's Church. Right after Berean Family Time, we have our offering. After our offering, our Pastor will give his message, followed by a closing song. On the first Sunday of each month, we have communion, which follows Pastor Duhon's message. What is your 5 p.m. service like? Our 5 p.m. service is more traditional in its music. We recognize that there are people who love and enjoy hymns, so we sing more hymns during this service than in the morning. The format of this service is the same as our morning service. What is your 6:30 p.m. service like? Our 6:30 service is much different from the first two. This is a newer service to Berean, and is held in our youth room. The format here is much more laid-back. People generally get to the youth room around 6:15, and there is a lot of talking and mingling until our Pastor gets everyone's attention. We will typically begin with our pastor or another speaker talking, and then end with music and prayer time. The presented topic from our pastor and/or speaker varies in format. At times, they will have people help them with a short skit, or will have everyone break up into small groups to talk. The music at this service is contemporary. We bring a lot of the newer songs and styles that can be heard on 89.9 way fm and JQ99.3. |
